Full Job Description SUMMARY:
NNCC's YouthWorks supports youth and young adults ages 14-24 in achieving success in employment readiness, academics, and career development. As part of this program, the Peer Leader serves as a mentor and role model, working directly with participants to foster personal, social, and educational growth. The Peer Leader facilitates peer-to-peer mentorship by guiding youth through activities such as tutoring, skill-building, job-shadowing preparation, technical support and academic support. This role also offers administrative support for the program, including but not limited to onboarding paperwork and database management. This role encourages participants to build confidence, develop workplace skills, and explore career pathways. Working as part of a collaborative mentoring team, the Peer Leader motivates and supports youth while modeling positive behaviors and leadership. This position is ideal for individuals ages 18-25 who are passionate about empowering young people and helping them reach their full potential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and recruit youth as needed. Ability to develop knowledge of best practices with peers and an ability to develop a rapport with peers required. Plan and implement program activities that include educational workshops appropriate to program academic goals and age of youth. Able to initiate, make decisions, identify & implement solutions, and required documentation in an appropriate, effective and timely manner. Demonstrates good listening skills by paying attention to and demonstrating understanding of the comments and questions of others. Participates in agency projects. Interacts with all staff and community professionally, effectively and appropriately. Shows awareness of and respect for multicultural, ethnic, race and gender diversity among all individuals involved in the Agency including recipients of services, residents, staff, other agencies, etc. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to visit job sites is preferred. Will provide mentorship and supervision to youth at their respective job sites. Will conduct other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Experince:
Previous experience with YouthWorks and/ or working with youth, a valid driver's license, and access to a vehicle preferred.
