Job Description

Position Summary:
The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) is a key member of the behavioral health and recovery team, providing support and guidance to individuals who are navigating recovery from substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and co-occurring conditions. This role is centered on peer support, using lived experience of recovery to help others in their own healing journeys. The CPRS offers emotional support, practical assistance, and recovery resources, while advocating for a person-centered approach to recovery and wellness. Umbrella Wellness Center will hire a CPRS to work with residents in our housing program, and with members of our community who may need aftercare or crisis support. Key Responsibilities:
Peer Support:
Provide direct one-on-one and group support to individuals in recovery, offering empathy, encouragement, and motivational guidance based on personal lived experience.
Recovery Coaching:
Help clients set recovery goals, develop individualized recovery plans, and assist with problem-solving and decision-making in their recovery journey.
Resource Referral:
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with counselors, therapists, case managers, and other support staff to provide holistic care to individuals.
Qualifications:
Certification:
•Must be a State Licensed, Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)•
Lived Experience:
Personal experience with recovery from substance use disorder, mental health challenges, or co-occurring conditions, and the ability to use that experience to guide and inspire others.
Recovery history:
Must have two years of sobriety within recovery.
Transportation:
Must have reliable transportation to travel to client locations, meetings, and community events.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a variety of settings, including offices, homes, and community-based locations.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental approach. Ability to establish trust and rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of community resources and services available to individuals in recovery. Crisis management and conflict resolution skills.
