Position Overview:
The Reentry Services Coordinator provides direct support to residents of the Maine Coastal Regional Reentry Center to promote successful transition into the community. This includes group facilitation, support for recovery and behavioral health needs, and transportation to community activities. The role emphasizes resident engagement in programming, substance use recovery support, and skill-building that fosters long-term stability.
Essential Job Functions:
Resident Support
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and accountability, modeling appropriate boundaries and pro-social behavior.
- Engage families, with resident consent, to strengthen reentry success.
- Document all services, assessments, and progress notes in compliance with program standards. Group Facilitation & Skill-Building
- Facilitate evidence-based cognitive-behavioral and restorative justice groups.
- Lead substance use recovery groups and workshops, including relapse prevention, harm reduction, and peer support models.
- Develop and facilitate life skills groups covering topics such as employment readiness, budgeting, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Support therapeutic and peer-led group processes to encourage accountability, community connection, and resilience. Substance Use & Behavioral Health Support
- Provide referrals to licensed treatment providers for substance use disorder and mental health services.
- Monitor and support resident participation in drug/alcohol counseling, screenings, and recovery programs.
- Collaborate with external providers to ensure coordinated care and continuity of treatment.
- Encourage residents to practice recovery skills daily and support engagement in 12-step, SMART Recovery, or similar peer-support groups.
- Apply evidence-based practices in individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, and support services for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
- Conduct assessments (e.g., AC-OK, Addiction Severity Index, LS/CMI) and partner with the Program Manager/Clinical Supervisor on individualized service plans.
- Develop and implement client-centered interventions based on assessment findings and clinical observations.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support recovery-focused service planning and contribute to staff meetings.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation in all service areas. Transportation & Community Engagement
- Establish and strengthen relationships with community partners.
- Develop community based pro-social activities for residents.
- Transport residents to appointments, employment, court, community service, medical visits, and recovery activities.
- Supervise residents during community service assignments and ensure compliance with program expectations.
- Ensure resident safety during transit and provide guidance on use of transportation for long-term independence.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, mileage logs, and report any maintenance needs. Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain consistent communication with program staff, external partners, and community providers.
- Represent the organization in meetings with community agencies and referral sources to expand service networks.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and organizational events as required.
- Demonstrate reliability, adaptability, professionalism, and ethical standards, serving as a positive role model who treats all individuals with respect and empathy.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social services, behavioral health, criminal justice, or related field (required); equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with justice-involved individuals, with strong knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health, and reentry challenges.
- Experience in group facilitation, substance use recovery support, and case management.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with case management software preferred.
- Valid Maine driver's license, safe driving record, and reliable transportation (required).
- LADC or CADC certification (preferred).
- Familiarity with restorative justice practices (preferred).
Working Conditions /
Physical Demands:
This position is based in a secure, community-based reentry facility with frequent resident interaction. Must have access to a personal vehicle and be able to travel to various locations as needed to fulfill job responsibilities. Regular physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting to 25 lbs. The role requires frequent use of hands for typing and handling office equipment, as well as effective communication in person, by phone, and via video conferencing.
