Bismarck State College is seeking a collaborative, student-focused Career & Community Resource Coordinator to lead career services initiatives that empower students to explore career pathways, build professional skills, and connect with employers and community resources. This role serves as a key connector between students, faculty, employers, and community partners, helping students navigate both career opportunities and essential support services. What You'll Do Career Services & Student Success Provide individualized and group career advising, helping students identify strengths, interests, and career goals. Career counseling support, including resume reviews, interview preparation, job search strategies, and professional branding. Assist students in developing professional materials such as resumes, cover letters, and portfolios. Connect students with internship, employment, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities. Coordinate career fairs, employer recruitment events, networking opportunities, and career development workshops. Build and maintain strong relationships with employers and industry partners to expand career opportunities for students. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to integrate career exploration into academic programs and experiences. Guide students to BSC and community resources that support academic and personal success, including transportation, childcare, food assistance, healthcare, housing, financial, legal, and mental health services. Maintain an up-to-date directory of community resources and referral options. Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and student leaders regarding available resources and referral processes. Manage career services technology systems and maintain accurate data tracking and reporting. Monitor outcomes related to internships, employment, partnerships, and the annual First Destination Report. Support communication and outreach efforts through website content, newsletters, social media, and promotional activities. Coordinate and facilitate the Career Services Advisory Board in alignment with North Dakota Career and Technical Education requirements. Additional Responsibilities Contribute ideas and solutions that enhance departmental and institutional effectiveness. Serve on campus committees and participate in professional organizations, as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a master's degree in guidance and counseling or a closely related field. Must be able to obtain a Career Development Credential as set forth by the North Dakota State Board for Career & Technical Education. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to plan, organize, and determine methods that produce desired results and meet required deadlines. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with individuals of diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to write reports, interpret statistical and analytical reports, and analyze data. Proficient working knowledge of computer software programs (i.e., electronic job search and resume preparation, Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, etc., electronic email and calendar), strong internet familiarity, and good keyboarding skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
More than 1 year of experience in a comparable position or related administrative position in higher education. Working knowledge and awareness of student support and an understanding of available campus and community resources to support student success.
