(To ensure consideration, please submit all application materials before review date) 06/24/2026 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Description of Work Reporting to the Executive Director, the Assistant Director leads all efforts with VA certification and reporting, tuition assistance education and military & veteran student transition efforts. Supervises the Veteran Benefits Specialist. Overseas the NCTA MOU and is responsible for initiating and supervising the VA-funded work-study students. Supervises and coordinates the Military and Veteran Success Center ( MVSC ) student academic and career development programs. Supervises student academic mentors. Facilitates students' self-exploration, career identification, and applications for internships and careers. Oversees the MVSC's participation in University and community job fairs and hiring events for military connected students. Actively collaborates with faculty and staff to support and advocate for military connected students. Maintains and develops relationships with outside veteran agencies to support military connected students. Assists the Executive Director with university and off campus liaison efforts supporting military connected student issues and education of faculty & staff. Assists the Executive Director in yearly program assessment and development to enhance recruitment, retention, and graduation rate for military connected students. Performs administrative and other duties as assigned. http://www.unl.edu/equity/notice-nondiscrimination Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, or related liberal arts field and two (2) years' experience working with military connected individuals. Expertise in strategies and best practices for supporting students' academic success. Proficiency with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation and student management/course management systems essential. Ability to effectively problem-solve, think critically, and communicate effectively with college students and staff in situations of shared responsibility and confidentiality. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate regular staff, graduate, and undergraduate student staff. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, education, sociology or related. Three (3) years' post-graduation experience in academic coaching, academic advising, or student support services.
