Job Description

Rider University invites applications for the Coordinator of STEM Student Success. Reporting to the Director of Academic Tutoring, the Coordinator works directly with STEM students to support their development, resilience, and academic success both in and out of the classroom. The Coordinator provides services that will enhance the success and retention of STEM students.
Responsibilities include:
In consultation with Academic Success Center (ASC) team and faculty, design and deliver effective and holistic programs and services that enhance the transition, learning and success of students, particularly those at risk academically. In consultation with ASC team and faculty, plan and provide workshops that address common obstacles faced by STEM students in gateway science courses. Provide one-on-one success coaching to students. Serve as Success Coach for science students on academic probation and facilitate weekly Success Strategies in the Sciences Workshop and/or individual appointments. Meet one on one or in small groups to support students in the acquisition of learning and study strategies necessary to succeed in the sciences. Design and facilitate trainings related to the specific learning and transitional needs of STEM students intended for professional tutors, coaches, and mentors. Supervise Academic Success Center suite in evenings as needed. This is a 10-month position. For additional information regarding our Benefits visit Benefits | Rider University Bachelor's degree in Science or Science Education. 1-2 years' experience working with college-age students in a teaching, advising, coaching, mentoring or counseling capacity. Knowledge of a science disciplinary field and learning processes and practices required to achieve success in STEM fields. Commitment to and understanding of the varying needs of students, particularly those who are academically at risk. Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required. Master's degree in a STEM field or STEM Education. Demonstrated experience in learning support programs and/or professional advising centers. Experience in workshop development and training.
