We partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice. The Center ensures understanding and values differences in people of diverse cultures, ethnic origins, sexual orientation, disabilities and beliefs.Overview:
The Street Outreach Specialist engages runaway, homeless, and street youth (RHY) to increase their access to community resources designed to address the medical, mental health, financial, emergency shelter, and other basic living and safety needs of disconnected youth. This position will assist runaway, homeless, and street youth in crisis intervention, problem-solving, action planning, and skill building to address immediate life and safety issues, reduce the risk of sexual exploitation and abuse, and reduce or prevent incidents of homelessness. This position will ensure that LGBTQ+ and trafficked youth and young adults are connected to healthcare and other essential services and supports.Schedule:
Full time, 35 hours per week. Hours vary between 9am-9pmResponsibilities:
Crisis Intervention Screening and Assessment Individual CounselingCase Management Facilitating LGBTQ+ Support Group Community Outreach to locations where youth are known to congregate Target homeless and street-involved LGBTQ+ and trafficked youth and young adults for services Maintain client confidentiality, consistent with Center policies Referral readiness and referral services Accurate and timely case and program record keeping Effectively manage time to meet responsibilities Engage youth to offer services and referralsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in human services, education or related field and 1 year relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of experience and education / Masters Degree preferred A valid Driver's licenseSkills:
Strong communication and literacy skills Advanced knowledge ofMicrosoft OfficeInternet Explorer Pay Rate:
