Job Description

Work-Based Learning (WBL) Teacher serves as a vital connector between classroom instruction and real-world career experiences. This role is responsible for designing, coordinating, and facilitating meaningful work-based learning opportunities that prepare students for postsecondary success in college, careers, and life. The WBL Teacher builds strong partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, supports students in developing employability skills, and ensures alignment with state standards and district goals. This position requires a student-centered educator who is highly organized, relationship-driven, and passionate about career readiness and experiential learning.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive work-based learning program aligned to district, state, and federal guidelines Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to create student placement opportunities Coordinate student internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, and other career exploration experiences Prepare students for workplace success through instruction in employability skills such as communication, professionalism, teamwork, and problem-solving Monitor and evaluate student progress in work-based placements, including conducting site visits and maintaining regular communication with employers Ensure all student placements comply with labor laws, safety regulations, and district policies Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, and teaching staff to support student career pathways and graduation requirements Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting related to student placements, attendance, and performance Facilitate classroom instruction related to career readiness, workforce trends, and job search skills (e.g., resumes, interviewing, workplace expectations) Organize and support career-focused events such as job fairs, guest speakers, and employer panels Provide individualized guidance and support to students to ensure successful placement and completion of WBL experiences
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Career and Technical Education, or related field Valid state teaching license appropriate for secondary education Strong knowledge of career readiness standards and work-based learning frameworks Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to build and sustain partnerships with business and community stakeholders Experience working with high school students
Preferred:
Prior experience in work-based learning, career and technical education, or workforce development Experience collaborating with business/industry partners or community organizations Knowledge of labor laws and regulations related to youth employment Master's degree in Education or related field
Physical Demands:
Ability to move between classrooms, offices, and off-site work locations Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds Ability to travel within the community for site visits and employer meetings Ability to operate standard office and instructional technology
Working Conditions:
