S. armed forces only. Veteran Employment Services within the division of Workforce Development (WDD) at the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking a self-motivated and highly skilled individual to fill an Accelerated Credentialing to Employment (ACE) Employment Specialist position. They will do a great deal of outreach to area employers, members of the Active Component, actively drilling members of the National Guard and Reserve and their respective spouses. The position focus is to assist our qualifying customers in overcoming barriers to employment or better employment by assisting them in attaining certifications, licenses using their military training and or experience, or by assisting them with short-term training and other programs and services with in
DWS. ACE
Outreach Specialists also reach out and sustain relationships with Veteran Service Organizations, local clergy and non-profit organizations, and other partner agencies to find customers that may need or could utilize DWS services. In addition to those areas of focus this position will have a focus on local Veteran homeless population and recently released incarcerated Veterans as they transition.
Principal Duties:
The ACE Outreach Specialist performs the following tasks: Helping Utah Veterans, currently serving service members and spouses overcome barriers to employment by assisting with job search techniques, resume writing, work readiness and interviewing skills identifying and translating skills and training obtained through military service to civilian careers. Assisting and maintaining relationships through partnerships and employers with emphasis on our state homeless Veteran population and those incarcerated Veterans recently or preparing to be released.
Qualifications The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who: Is a Veteran. A copy of your DD-214 must be uploaded to the application. Has working knowledge of the Active Component, National Guard and Reserve and their unique missions and organizations. Has a good understanding of Workforce Development Division (WDD) programs to include Accelerated Credentialing to Employment, WIOA, Connections and the
DOL/JVSG
Grant. Has 3+ years case management experience. Has 3+ years dedicated outreach working with Veteran Service Organizations, non-profit, employers, local or state agencies or clergies that assist with employment, homelessness and/or incarcerated Veterans. Is willing to work some nights, weekends and holidays when required. Is willing to work at one of the three listed office locations. Is willing to travel up to 10%, including some overnight travel. Possesses a valid State of Utah Driver's License. Exercises articulate communication skills and innovative problem-solving skills. Can create Veteran, Education and Community Partnerships geared towards significant numbers of Veteran/Spouse job seekers registering on jobs.utah.gov and/or an increase in Veteran, currently serving military members, and spouse employment.
