Job Description
Expert Vocational Insights is committed to facilitating career development for individuals with disabilities and helping each person pursue meaningful, competitive employment. Our services are individualized and person-centered, with a focus on identifying strengths, addressing employment barriers, and developing practical strategies that lead to long-term vocational success. We serve individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including transition-age youth exploring careers, adults returning to the workforce, veterans, individuals navigating disability-related barriers, and experienced professionals adapting to changes in their employment needs. Position Summary We are seeking a motivated, organized, and relationship-driven Employment Specialist to serve participants throughout Northern Colorado. This is a hybrid, community-based position with no daily office requirement . Employment Specialists divide their time between working from home and meeting participants, employers, and community partners throughout the assigned service area. Unlike a traditional recruiting position, Employment Specialists work directly with individuals who may require additional assistance navigating the employment process. The Employment Specialist is responsible for helping participants identify realistic employment goals, locate appropriate opportunities, complete applications, prepare for interviews, connect with employers, obtain employment, and successfully transition into the workplace. This position requires strong communication, organization, initiative, documentation skills, and the ability to independently manage a community-based caseload. Key Responsibilities Meet individually with participants to identify employment goals, strengths, interests, skills, support needs, and potential barriers to employment. Develop individualized employment strategies based on each participant's goals and abilities. Conduct job searches and identify competitive employment opportunities within the participant's local community. Assist participants with resumes, cover letters, applications, online employment profiles, and other job-search materials. Provide interview preparation, mock interviews, professional communication coaching, and workplace-readiness training. Conduct direct employer outreach to identify employment opportunities and develop relationships with local businesses. Meet with employers in the community to learn about workforce needs, available positions, workplace expectations, and potential employment opportunities. Assist participants with communicating with employers regarding interviews, applications, scheduling, and employment-related questions. Attend interviews, job fairs, hiring events, employer meetings, and other employment-related activities when appropriate. Support participants through the transition from job development into successful employment. Coordinate with Employment Mentors and job coaches when participants require ongoing support after placement. Identify potential workplace accommodations, natural supports, and strategies that may improve employment success. Track participant progress toward established employment goals and adjust job-development strategies when barriers arise. Maintain accurate and timely case notes, service documentation, employer contacts, placement information, and required reports. Complete documentation consistent with Medicaid, Vocational Rehabilitation, and agency requirements. Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies. Manage multiple participant schedules, deadlines, employer contacts, and documentation requirements independently. Travel throughout Highlands Ranch and surrounding communities for participant meetings, employer outreach, interviews, job fairs, and other employment-related activities. Minimum Qualifications Education or professional experience in human services, vocational services, counseling, social sciences, workforce development, education, recruiting, case management, or a related field. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance. Ability to pass required background checks. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to independently manage a caseload and multiple competing deadlines. Comfortable meeting participants and employers throughout the community. Strong computer skills and ability to use email, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, virtual meeting platforms, and electronic documentation systems. Ability to complete detailed professional documentation within required timelines. Ability to work independently without direct daily supervision. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following: Vocational rehabilitation Supported employment Workforce development Job development or placement Recruiting or human resources Career counseling Case management Human services Behavioral health Special education Transition services Disability services Employer relations Community outreach Resume development and interview preparation Working with transition-age youth Working with individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, or mental health disabilities Experience does not have to come exclusively from vocational rehabilitation. Applicants with strong backgrounds in recruiting, education, human services, coaching, case management, community engagement, sales, or employer relations are encouraged to apply when their skills are transferable to employment services. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Successful Employment Specialists demonstrate: Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills. The ability to engage participants who may have experienced repeated employment barriers. Strong employer outreach and professional networking skills. Excellent written communication and documentation skills. Ability to balance participant preferences with realistic labor-market opportunities. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Ability to recognize barriers and develop practical strategies rather than allowing cases to stall. Confidence communicating with employers, counselors, families, and interdisciplinary professionals. Ability to provide individualized instruction rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. Strong follow-through and accountability. Ability to work independently while remaining responsive to supervisors and team members. Professional judgment and appropriate boundaries. Commitment to participant choice, independence, competitive integrated employment, and person-centered services. Work Environment This is a hybrid and field-based position . There is no requirement to report to an office each day.
Employment Specialists may work:
From home completing documentation, job searches, employer outreach, and virtual participant meetings. At participant meetings throughout the community. At local businesses conducting employer outreach. At job interviews and hiring events. At libraries, workforce centers, training locations, and other appropriate community settings. At participant employment sites when placement or retention support is required. Local travel is a regular and essential component of the position. Scheduling Employment Specialists have flexibility in managing their caseloads and appointments; however, schedules must ultimately reflect participant and employer availability. Some participant meetings, interviews, employer contacts, hiring events, or employment-related activities may occur during mornings, afternoons, evenings, or occasional weekends. The successful candidate must be able to independently organize their schedule, maintain consistent communication, complete required documentation, and meet established service expectations. Why Join Expert Vocational Insights? At Expert Vocational Insights, Employment Specialists do more than help people submit applications. They work directly with participants to identify meaningful employment goals, overcome barriers, build relationships with employers, and create pathways toward sustainable employment. You will have the opportunity to work independently while remaining connected to a multidisciplinary team of vocational professionals, Employment Mentors, therapists, counselors, and community partners.
