Role Description The Employment Specialist is a full-time, hybrid role based in Cortland, NY, with some flexibility for work from home. This role focuses on supporting people with special needs to explore, obtain, and maintain meaningful employment in alignment with their skills, interests, and goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting vocational assessments, developing individualized employment plans, and coaching individuals in job readiness, interviewing, and workplace skills. The Employment Specialist will engage with local employers, build community partnerships, and advocate for inclusive employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations. The role also involves monitoring progress, documenting services, coordinating with families and internal teams, and maintaining compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in vocational counseling, career planning, or employment support for individuals with special needs. Ability to build relationships with employers, community partners, and families to facilitate job placements and workplace inclusion. Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills, including proficiency with basic office software. Capacity to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and independently in community and remote settings. Knowledge of disability services, person-centered planning, and applicable employment regulations is highly beneficial. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for community-based work. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services, education, rehabilitation, psychology, or related field preferred; relevant experience in employment services or special needs support is strongly valued.
