Job Description

Peer Support Specialist (Recovery Residence - Women) SeaChange Recovery Residences | Myrtle Beach, SC Job Overview SeaChange Recovery Residences is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to support women living in a recovery residence grounded in the Social Model of Recovery. This role is peer-led and non-clinical, centered on lived experience, mutual support, structure, and empowerment. The Peer Support Specialist uses personal recovery experience and professional training to provide mentorship, encouragement, accountability, and connection to recovery resources. This position plays a key role in fostering a safe, supportive, and recovery-oriented community environment. Key Responsibilities Peer Support & Recovery Engagement Build respectful, supportive relationships with women in recovery Use lived experience to model healthy recovery behaviors and coping skills Support residents in developing self-directed recovery tools and routines Encourage participation in recovery meetings, house activities, and pro-social engagement Assist residents with recovery-related needs, including attending appointments when appropriate Community Living & Safety Help maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented residence Monitor common areas and address peer conflicts constructively Support adherence to house guidelines in a respectful, non-punitive manner Escalate safety concerns and emergencies per program protocol Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with clinical staff, case managers, and peer team members Participate in team meetings and supervision as required Communicate observations and concerns appropriately within scope Documentation & Compliance Complete timely, accurate peer documentation in the electronic health record Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Follow all SeaChange policies, ethical guidelines, and program standards Participate in training and professional development activities Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Lived experience in recovery from substance use or co-occurring challenges, with at least two (2) years of sustained recovery Active Peer Support Specialist certification (or ability to obtain) Ability to maintain professional boundaries in a peer role Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience working with women, marginalized populations, or individuals experiencing homelessness Knowledge of the Social Model of Recovery and NARR standards Experience in recovery housing or nonprofit settings Crisis de-escalation skills within a peer (non-clinical) scope Familiarity with WRAP tools and recovery-oriented practices Veteran status a plus Work Environment & Physical Requirements Combination of community-based work and documentation Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally Ability to transport residents in a company vehicle Participation in community events and off-site appointments as needed Why Work at SeaChange? Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 - 30.0 per week
