Roane State Community College Job Summary The Dual Studies Academic Advisor supports high school students enrolled in college coursework by providing proactive academic advising, onboarding, and ongoing guidance to promote student success. The role helps students select courses aligned with degree and transfer pathways, monitors academic progress, and assists with registration and understanding college policies. This position serves as a key liaison between the college, high school partners, students, and families, ensuring clear communication and alignment with program requirements. It also supports student transition from dual enrollment to full-time college, promotes available student resources, and contributes to recruitment, retention, and program success efforts. Additionally, the advisor maintains accurate records, tracks student outcomes, ensures compliance with program requirements, and regularly engages with partner high schools through visits, presentations, and outreach. Job Duties Student Advising & Support Monitor academic progress and intervene early when performance concerns arise. Advise dual enrollment students on course selection aligned with degree pathways and transfer goals. Assist students with academic planning, registration, and understanding of college policies and procedures. Facilitate orientation sessions and onboarding processes for new dual enrollment students. Support students in understanding the expectations of college-level coursework. Student Success & Transition Promote academic success resources including tutoring, accessibility services, and career services. Support seamless transition from first year dual enrollment to second year dual enrollment (including advising for increased number of Dual enrollment courses and Early College) to full-time college enrollment.at Roane State Community College and its programs and partner four-year institutions. Participate in recruitment and retention initiatives tied to strategic enrollment goals. High School & Community Partnership Conduct regular on-site visits to support partner schools with Early College advising. Collaborate with Director of Dual Studies and high school counselors and administrators to ensure program alignment with high school diploma requirements. Provide informational sessions for students and parents regarding program requirements, funding, and college readiness. Compliance & Program Management Maintain accurate student records and advising documentation. Track enrollment trends, retention, and completion data. Assist with reporting requirements and audits as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred (Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field). Valid driver's license and ability to travel to partner high schools. Preferred Qualifications Experience in dual enrollment or early college programs. Knowledge of Tennessee dual enrollment funding, TSAC, and policies. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience advising, counseling, or working with high school or college students. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
