The WIOA Career Support Specialist is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare individuals for future roles as Career Advisors. This position provides hands-on learning in intake, case documentation, career services, and job readiness support. Under the guidance of experienced staff, the Career Support Specialist contributes to the success of the American Job Center while gaining valuable experience in workforce development.General Responsibilities:
Assist with customer intake, eligibility screenings, and gathering required documentation. Provide support to Career Advisors by maintaining organized files, entering data, and updating client records in the case management system. Help job seekers with resumes, job applications, and navigating online job boards. Learn how to conduct assessments and begin practicing how to develop career plans under supervision. Participate in workshops and job fairs; help prepare materials and assist attendees as needed. Provide follow-up reminders and basic outreach to customers to keep them engaged and on track. Help customers identify employment interests and training opportunities with support from the Career Advisor team. Observe and begin practicing how to build connections with employers and partners. Refer customers to support services, such as transportation or childcare, with guidance from Career Advisors. Answer phones, greet visitors, and offer general information about services and programs. Attend required trainings and development activities to build skills and prepare for advancement. Perform other duties as assigned to support office operations and customer service.Additional Responsibilities:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or career interest in workforce development, social services, or a related field preferred. Customer service or administrative experience is a plus. Strong desire to learn and grow in the field of career services. Must have reliable transportation, a valid, unrestricted driver's license, a good driving record, and maintain vehicle insurance. Position may require some travel; reimbursed at the state travel rate.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds. Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology and systems. Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to follow through on tasks. Able to maintain confidentiality and follow program procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and related software programs and online information systems; experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other virtual meeting platforms preferred. Self-motivated, results-driven, and flexible in managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities. Capable of sitting for extended periods while performing data entry and computer-based work.Position Type & Expected Hours of Work:
This is a salary, full time position based on a 37.5 hour work week. This position follows the work schedule of the American Job Center Hours. Unless otherwise stated, normal work hours of work are 8:00 - 4:30, Monday through Friday. This position may require the flexibility to modify work schedule if needed to meet the needs of customers and the American Job Center.Physical Demands and Work Environment:
