Purpose The Co-op & Career Programs Coordinator is responsible for delivering first-rate career services for Cockrell School of Engineering students and alumni to aid them in making informed career decisions, gaining practical experience and transferable skills, preparing for an effective job search, and finding suitable accommodation post-graduation. This position also focuses on leading multiple career service or administrative programs such as career fairs, first destination reports, externship, classroom outreach, first year interest groups, and more. Responsibilities Cooperative Education Program Management

• Manage the day-to-day administration of the Engineering Co-op Program, including student enrollment, participation requirements, coursework, grade submission, and program records for multiple active cohorts.

Advise prospective and participating students on program requirements, timelines, professional expectations, academic considerations, and transitions between academic study and co-op employment. Promote the Co-op Program and available opportunities through information sessions, student outreach, digital communications, and other engagement activities. Maintain relationships with participating employers and support efforts to identify and develop new co-op opportunities for engineering students. Collaborate with faculty, academic departments, Engineering Student Services, employers, and other campus partners to support student participation and effective program administration. Monitor participation and feedback and recommend improvements to Co-op Program processes and the student and employer experience. Career Advising & Education

• Conduct individual career advising appointments for Cockrell School students and alumni as part of the ECAC advising team, providing additional advising capacity during peak periods and staff absences.

Advise students on career planning, resumes and application materials, internship and full-time job searches, interviewing, networking, and evaluating opportunities. Connect students with appropriate ECAC, university, and online career resources and tools. Support career workshops, presentations, and outreach programs for general and targeted student populations. Student Staff Supervision

• Provide day-to-day supervision of ECAC student employees, including onboarding, training, scheduling, work assignments, and ongoing guidance.

Establish clear expectations and provide coaching and feedback to support student employee performance and professional development. Coordinate student staff coverage for ECAC front-of-house operations, programs, events, and career fairs and serve as the primary point of contact for routine student staff needs. ECAC Programs & Departmental Support

• Support career fairs, employer and student programs, office events, outreach, and other ECAC initiatives based on departmental needs.

Provide exceptional service to students, employers, prospective families, and university visitors and contribute to a welcoming and professional ECAC environment. Collaborate with ECAC colleagues to provide program and operational support during peak periods and perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and five years of experience coordinating student programs, recruiting, student advising/mentoring, career services, experiential education, or other related responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and support college students and communicate professionally with a broad range of constituents, including students, families, employers, faculty, staff, and university partners. Experience providing leadership, training, supervision, or coordination of student employees, peer mentors, volunteers, or other staff. Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of programs, exercise independent judgment, manage competing priorities, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an environment with multiple programs, projects, and deadlines, with strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace and ability to quickly learn and effectively use databases, career management platforms, university systems, and other technology tools. Demonstrated professional demeanor and commitment to providing high-quality service to students and other constituents. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree with three years of experience Experience in university career services, cooperative education, experiential learning, student affairs, academic advising, recruiting, or a related field. Experience supervising, training, or developing college student employees. Experience providing individual career advising, coaching, or mentoring and delivering career-related programs or presentations. Experience coordinating academic or experiential programs and developing relationships with employers or external partners. Knowledge of engineering/STEM education and career pathways. Knowledge of The University of Texas at Austin, the Cockrell School of Engineering, undergraduate student processes, and relevant administrative systems.
