Position Summary Boerne ISD's Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) is an innovative, open-enrollment high school focusing on health science and cybersecurity. The BISD P-TECH
College Advisor provides comprehensive advisor services to support the academic and college/career development of students enrolled in the P-TECH program. This role ensures students are prepared for high school completion, dual-credit coursework, post-secondary education, and entry into the workforce. The Advisor collaborates with students, families, school staff, college partners, and industry leaders to promote student success. This role will work closely with P-Tech students in both the Health Science and Cybersecurity programs. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate. Preferred Qualifications Three (3) years of experience working with college-bound students in a high school or college setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of career development. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff. Knowledge of P-TECH, Early College High School (ECHS), or dual-credit models. Experience supporting first-generation college students and students from diverse backgrounds. Strong understanding of college admissions, financial aid (FAFSA/TASFA), scholarships, and career pathways. Familiarity with industry certifications and workforce readiness requirements. Ability to collaborate with higher education institutions, workforce/industry partners, and community organizations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging students, families, and partners. Experience in designing and delivering college/career readiness workshops, parent nights, and advisory activities. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and advocate for student needs in a rigorous academic setting. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Academic Support Guide students in creating and monitoring Personal Graduation Plans (PGPs) aligned with P-TECH pathways. Support students in navigating dual-credit courses, including college readiness and study skills. Monitor academic progress, provide interventions, and collaborate with teachers and professors. College and Career Planning Assist students in exploring careers within their P-TECH pathway. Support college applications, FAFSA/TASFA completion, and scholarship opportunities. Coordinate workplace learning opportunities (job shadowing, internships, mentoring). Ensure students understand graduation requirements and postsecondary options. System Support & Collaboration Collaborate with P-TECH leadership, staff, and higher education/industry partners. Participate in advisory boards, parent engagement events, and community outreach. Analyze program data to track student success and identify needs for program improvement. Advocate for equitable access and remove barriers for underrepresented students. Program Management, Administration and Compliance Advocate for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Compile, maintain, and organize reports, records, and other required documentation. Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, board policies, and district regulations. Follow established campus and district routines to ensure compliance and consistency in operations. Maintain confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned.
