Function and Scope:
Primary role is to collaborate with educational institutions, business partners, community partners, and chambers of commerce to establish alignment between education, workforce training, and industry demand.
Essential Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have the ability to work well with little supervision, perform tasks that require complex solutions and independent judgment. Must be able to collaborate with peers and community partners by network in order to create and sustain relationships. Develop and maintain community partnerships with business, educational organizations and community stakeholders that align to current and future Workforce Solutions projects and initiatives. Provide and present career information, training, and technical assistance to Workforce Solutions Offices, local Vocational Rehabilitation Offices, school districts, Education Service Centers, community partners, and employers. Presentation may include 1-on-1, small and/or large group of audience. Provide quarterly performance reports on a reporting template provided by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Generate customized labor market information reports for educational institutions as needed. Prepare and conduct presentations to business, education, and community groups to provide insight into business trends, career and labor market information, program services, and other pertinent information as outlined by TWC Workforce Division and Labor Market Career Information (LMCI) staff. Participate in industry advisory and taskforce committees for target industries gathering business intelligence to identify recruitment challenges, skills sets required, and to identify career pathways. May provide training and technical assistance to partners to achieve desired outcomes for WFS grants, projects and initiatives. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in human services, business, education, or a related field relevant to assignment from an accredited four-year college or university. (One year of qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of college up to a maximum of two years. Experience in workforce development or Career and Technical Education (CTE), preferably in gathering and reporting outcomes, ISD experience as a teacher or counselor working with at-risk middle or high school populations a plus. A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (local, in-state, and out- of-state travel is required). There will be minimal local area travel to school districts scheduled outside of the 8am-5pm business hours. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be proficient in utilizing the internet to accomplish the duties of the position.
Language Skills:
Able to use and comprehend the applicable software required to perform the functions of this position. Able to articulate the message of career exploration to a range of audiences including students from 6th to 12th grade, elected officials and community partners. Mental Functions (other examples of mental functions include analytical, creativity and computation, etc.): Must be able to assess and be aware of adequate business etiquette according to type of audience/group. Non-verbal communication is key in presenting etiquette. Must be able to interpret complex reports and Federal, state and local regulations and guidelines. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing. Must be able to collaborate with the team to ensure events, meetings, and partnerships are successful. Must have the ability to perform analytical functions and promptly provide problem solving.
Physical Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 25-35 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read program information. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Ability to utilize the tools to deliver services such as Virtual Reality Goggles in order to relate the instruction, conduct tools maintenance and troubleshoot.
Working Conditions:
Employee performs approximately 100% of work indoors. Employee works with minimal direction and periodic supervision. Employee may work in conditions set by school district and/or partner for example: gyms, cafeteria, computer-labs, pavilions, etc.
Equipment, Tools and Materials:
Employee utilizes the following electronic equipment: telephone, fax, copier, printer, calculator, overhead projector and computer. Employee utilizes e-mail, interoffice mail, and U.S. mail to receive and send reports, regulations, guideline and other information necessary to perform the essential duties of this position.
