Resume is required Cover Letter is preferred Job Details Job Summary This is a grant-funded position dependent on availability of funds and/or departmental need. The Student Success Coach II is a dynamic, relational professional who supports high-priority and first-generation and transfer college students in achieving academic, personal, and career success. Through a caseload model, the coach uses personalized outreach, goal planning, and strengths-based coaching to equip and empower students to thrive throughout their college experience. The coach provides targeted support to students participating in the UTSA Navigate program, helping them engage with curated learning pathways, digital tools, and structured coaching to build momentum toward their goals. Working closely with academic and support units across the university, the coach fosters students' knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate challenges, persist in their studies, and reach meaningful milestones. Core Responsibilities Manages a student caseload and build strong, trust-based relationships through regular in-person and virtual coaching sessions, outreach, and follow-ups. Connects with students via email, text, phone, and in-person meetings to promote coaching, schedule appointments, and maintain momentum. Establishes rapport quickly and consistently, helping students feel seen, heard, and supported throughout their college journey. Facilitates conversations to identify students' goals, values, challenges, and strengths. Collaborates with students to co-create individualized academic, career, and personal success plans, with clear milestones and check-in points. Supports students in developing knowledge, transferable skills, self-efficacy, and resilience to overcome obstacles. Uses student success technology and contact management systems to track student progress, update notes, manage interventions, and report on outcomes. Monitors academic performance and engagement to identify at-risk students, intervene early, and support timely degree progress. Coordinates with UT San Antonio Academic Advising, Disability Services, faculty, and other support services to ensure students receive timely support. Maintains accurate records by documenting student interactions—including coaching, advising, mentoring, and academic support activities—while tracking progress toward degree completion and engagement with learning resources. Collects, analyzes, and reports data to support the ongoing evaluation of the UT San Antonio Navigate program and meet reporting requirements for grant-funded initiatives. Help demonstrate the impact of coaching through both quantitative metrics and student stories. Ensures compliance with institutional guidelines and contribute to continuous improvement through data-informed reflections and strategic recommendations to leadership. Creates and facilitates workshops, courses/seminars, and learning experiences on topics such as academic skills, time management, motivation, and college navigation tailored to the needs of first-generation students. Develops engaging, accessible digital content—including videos, modules, toolkits, and guides—that support student learning and complement coaching conversations and success initiatives. Co-develops and continuously improves the UT San Antonio Navigate learning pathways and coaching curriculum to enhance engagement, personalization, and alignment with student success goals. Participates in ongoing coaching training, professional development, and reflective practice to grow skills and stay aligned with best practices. Complete UT San Antonio's coaching certification program. Collaborates with other coaches, academic support professionals, faculty, and student success colleagues to align strategies and maximize impact. Partners with grant PIs/Co-PIs and the UT San Antonio Navigate program manager to support implementation, share insights, and contribute to reporting, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a related field. One (1) year of related work experience. This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in a related field. Four years of experience working with college students or adolescents in academic advising, academic or success coaching, learning assistance or related capacity. Experience working with first-generation college students or academic counseling experience. Experience serving as a learning specialist, academic advisor, or success coach. Ability to work with sensitive information and to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality. Familiarity with student records systems. Personal computer and standard office equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Communication Collaboration Customer Service Problem Solving Working Conditions Office Environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department. Physical Demands Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position will work primarily on campus . Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable.
