As a Substitute/As-Needed READY Facilitator , you'll step in when additional support is needed to help individuals with disabilities build confidence, gain real-world work experience, and develop lifelong workplace skills. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact while maintaining a flexible schedule. You may support different participants, worksites, and schedules depending on current program needs. This isn't just filling in—it's helping make sure participants continue to receive the support they need to succeed. What You'll Be Doing (In Real Life) Step in to provide coverage when a regularly scheduled Facilitator is unavailable Support participants as they begin or continue workplace experiences Coach individuals through workplace interactions, communication, and problem-solving Help participants build confidence, independence, and workplace skills Celebrate wins—big and small—as participants grow Partner with local businesses to help maintain positive, inclusive workplace experiences Help participants strengthen soft skills such as teamwork, time management, communication, adaptability, and self-advocacy Adapt quickly to different participants, worksites, and support needs Work experiences generally last 3-8 weeks , but your assignments will vary depending on program needs and available coverage. We need someone who has a flexible schedule that can fill in when we have call outs or staff on vacation. How You'll Make an Impact Use creative strategies and accommodations to support each participant's unique needs Follow established participant support plans and guidance from the READY team Build positive, professional relationships with participants, families, employers, and Community Knights staff Recognize and respond to challenges with patience, empathy, and effective problem-solving Encourage participants to become increasingly independent rather than doing tasks for them Document participant progress and relevant workplace observations Provide consistent support even when stepping into an unfamiliar assignment

What We're Looking For Required:
21 years of age or older High School Diploma or equivalent Reliable transportation to worksites in Hampton, Newport News, and/or York County Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to quickly build trust while maintaining professional boundaries Comfort using a computer for documentation and communication Ability to adapt to changing schedules, participants, and work environments A growth mindset, empathy, and emotional intelligence Ability to work independently while following direction and established support plans
Preferred:
College coursework or degree in education, human services, social work, or a related field Experience supporting individuals with disabilities Experience in coaching, mentoring, teaching, employment services, or a related field We encourage passionate, mission-driven candidates to apply—even if you don't meet every preferred qualification.
