As a member of The Bear Creek School, you belong to a vibrant preschool - grade 12 community fully committed to the mission of our school. The Associate College Advisor will expand the scope of the advising department, adding increased personalization to the current program. In this role the Associate College Advisor will envision, lead, and execute new initiatives related to academic advising and the college application process. The Associate College Advisor will also work closely with the Dean of College and Academic Advising, partnering to enhance the student experience. The job also includes supporting the advising department by completing a variety of administrative tasks. Why you should work at The Bear Creek School. As an Associate College Advisor, you will join the student support team in furthering this mission by walking alongside students and families, offering thoughtful guidance and practical support throughout the college preparation process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Design and maintain online resources for families, including curated lists of summer programs, internships, and job opportunities. Develop and maintain curated lists of colleges categorized by midrange, safety, and reach across various programs and interest areas. Build and maintain a college profile library for student and parent education. Proactively learn emerging technologies and integrate new tools to improve workflow efficiency and student support. Contribute to the review of student essays for college and summer program applications (grades 9-11). Monitor students' college application lists and flag imbalances in reach/match/safety distribution. Maintain accurate and up to date student and parent information in Naviance, including GPA, test scores, and college lists. Facilitate strong connections with college representatives and promote Bear Creek distinctives at the university level by: participating in regional and national conferences and message boards, including NACAC, PNACAC, NAIS, college fairs, etc. attending counselor fly-in programs throughout the year to build relationships with targeted institutions. greeting approximately 100 college representatives each fall, sharing Bear Creek's academic profile and building ongoing relationships. Help manage appropriate accounts for Bear Creek including: NCAA UC System NAIA Slate Naviance Manage and maintain student learning plan procedures. Answer occasional questions about the college process, timelines, course preferencing, and summer opportunities in the fall of grade 11. Support departmental administrative tasks, including Bookings management, event request forms, and spreadsheet updates. Assist with evening and weekend advising events throughout the year. Proctor standardized tests.Supervisory Responsibilities None Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Excellent interpersonal skills. Coursework or training in education, advising communications, or a related field preferred 1-3 years of experience in an administrative, student-support, or coordination role required Prior experience in an independent school, college counseling office, or admissions setting preferred Prior experience using Naviance preferred Highly organized and attention to detail. Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorship is available for this position.
