Introduction Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is recruiting to fill multiple Vocational Therapy Assistant
  • Job Coach positions in Mauston, WI. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday from either 6:00 am
  • 2:30 pm, or 7:00 am
  • 3:30 pm with flexibility based on the needs of the program.
SRSTC opened in 2001 and provides care and treatment for several different patient populations. The center houses Wisconsin's Sexually Violent Persons Program, provides care and treatment for persons found not guilty by reasons of mental disease or mental defect, and provides court ordered treatment, testing, and education to patients found not competent to stand trial. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.   • Job Coach, you will be responsible for facilitating work, vocational, and treatment activities for the clients at SRSTC.
You will work directly with clients at least 20 hours per week.
You will:
Develop and implement a diversified program that provides patients with therapeutic work experiences. Complete required daily program documentation following established procedures. Develop and implement schedules for therapy department programming. Provide supervision for patients during their work experiences. Collaborate actively with other team members. Salary Information The starting pay is $24.92 per hour (approximately $51,800 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Therapy Assistant
  • Objective and is in pay schedule and range 06/12.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after their start date. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following: Experience working in a secure setting or sheltered workshop (e.g., correctional facility, mental health facility, long term care facility, etc.). Experience coordinating or supervising patients/clients in a work/vocational program or leisure opportunities (e.g., setting up schedules, organizing events, planning tasks/activities, setting expectations, etc. with work crews such as custodial, sewing, greenhouse, etc.). Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team. Well-qualified applicants will also have one or both of the following: Experience working with individuals who have been diagnosed with a mental illness or cognitive impairment. Experience working with and making recommendations for therapeutic equipment. Experience, training or education in providing strategies or interventions for working with resistant, uncooperative, or reluctant individuals. Your letter of qualifications is limited to 1 page.
