Job Description

Join an innovative, learner-centered, and trauma-informed school district that is redefining how students experience education. Norris School District, along with its flagship program Norris Academy, is building a community-based learning ecosystem that connects academic growth to real-world experiences across southeastern Wisconsin. This role is ideal for an educator or youth development professional who thrives in flexible environments, builds strong relationships, and believes learning happens beyond the classroom. About the Role The Community-Based Education / Job Coach supports learners in designing and navigating personalized learning pathways. Through advisory, coaching, and real-world experiences, you will help ensure each learner's plan is meaningful, aligned to competencies, and supported with the right structures for success. You will work closely with learners to connect them to opportunities such as internships, jobs, clubs, and community experiences—and guide them in reflecting on and demonstrating their learning. This role requires strong collaboration with internal staff and community partners to ensure equitable access to high-quality experiences. What You'll Do Facilitate advisory sessions focused on goal setting, reflection, and progress monitoring Connect learners to community-based opportunities (internships, job shadows, employment, clubs, and enrichment experiences) Support learners in successfully engaging in and completing these experiences through regular check-ins and coaching Help learners document, reflect on, and demonstrate competency-based learning Partner with the Community Liaison to develop and sustain experiential learning opportunities Collaborate with Learning Design Specialists to ensure access, equity, and alignment of learner plans Support development of social-emotional and behavioral skills Communicate and collaborate with families and staff to support learner success Work across multiple settings, including Norris Academy, virtual learners (NAVS), and regional learning hubs (including Milwaukee-based sites such as Learn MKE) What You Bring Experience working with youth in educational, coaching, workforce development, or mentoring settings Strong relationship-building and communication skills Ability to manage multiple learners, schedules, and partnerships effectively Comfort working in flexible, non-traditional learning environments Commitment to learner-centered and trauma-informed practices Preferred Qualifications Background in education, special education, counseling, or a related field Experience with work-based learning, internships, or career pathways programming Familiarity with competency-based or personalized learning models Knowledge of southeastern Wisconsin communities, especially Milwaukee Why Norris?
