Job Description
Overview There once was a retired physician, Robert, who lived in a beautiful 2 story home with his cat and his friend, Thomas. Thomas was a great cook, he kept the house clean, ran errands and did the grocery shopping. Once a week they would go out to dinner together and they enjoyed each other's company. The time came for Thomas to move along to his next adventure. Now we are looking for another "Thomas" to provide companionship and watch over Robert. He enjoys healthy food choices like a hot juicy steak, fresh salads, Thai food, meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, cheese burgers, Alfredo pasta, Mexican food and ice cream for dessert. Robert struggles with memory loss but can still dress himself, shower himself and feed his cat, He is not able to prepare his own meals or take his trash can down his long steep driveway to the curb. Robert enjoys his alone time. His most active hours of the day are between 3pm and midnight, but we don't need someone to stay up late to keep him company. This position is a live-in position . We prefer to hire one person for all 7 days/week, but are willing to talk about the possibility of someone staying with him 5 or 6 days a week. This would be best suited for someone with caregiving and dementia care experience. This position includes living accommodations. The guest bedroom and bathroom are on the 2nd floor so his new companion should be able to climb up and down stairs easily. Qualifications Caregiving experience Experience caring for clients with dementia Be able to pass a 10 panel drug test (including marijuana) Be able to pass a back ground check CPR and First Aid certification (Basic Life Support preferred) Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Be able to lift 50 pounds and have the ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting when required for patient transfers or household chores Must have your own vehicle and be able to provide transportation for Robert to and from appointments or to run errands.
