In this role, you will help support residents and fellow coworkers with resident care needs. Team-oriented professionals with compassionate customer service skills will thrive in this role.
Schedule:
6 am-10 am and/or 4:30 pm-8:30 pm. Days of the week vary depending on availability. I. General Purpose of the Job This position is responsible for assisting the Medication Assistant in providing resident care under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services and professional nursing staff by performing a variety of resident care skills on a regular basis and doing related work as required. II. Job Functions Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL): Observe and report changes in the resident's condition immediately to the Medication Assistant on duty or Wellness Coordinator. Communicate all important information using the Communication Book Obtain urine and stool specimens as assigned. Weigh residents as assigned. Ensure that all residents are at each meal Assist in changing bedding and/or clothing and other housekeeping services as needed. Assist residents in transporting residents to/from activities within the facility. Watch for and report any change in residents' room temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc. Be scheduled, within employees reported availability, for morning shift, evening shifts, or a combination of both (split shift)
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate Core Values and Non-Negotiable behaviors as defined by the Artesia Christian Home. Adhere to program philosophy and implement a person-centered, relationship-based approach to working with residents and their families. Maintain an environment that balances structure and nurture while working to engage residents in daily life and encourage them to be as independent as possible. Maintain a high level of awareness of residents' rights, quality of life, confidentiality, and privacy. Complete and maintain training requirements related to dementia care, program philosophy, and job description-related training Follow Residents' Rights and Confidentiality policies at all times. Follow facility safety, emergency & disaster program. Maintain the principles of infection control; be aware of all safety hazards and emergency procedures for fire and disaster that would ensure the safety of our residents. Assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook. Attend all in-service training programs and complete Relias trainings as assigned. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor in a cooperative manner III. Qualifications Must pass a California criminal background clearance. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED. Having experience with working with the elderly is desirable. Must be in good physical and mental condition, capable of performing assigned tasks; Good health must be verified by a health screening performed by a licensed physician, including a chest X-ray or intradermal test for TB. Must be able to hear, talk, and have a clear vision with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, kneel, and move intermittently during working hours and lift or exert force of up to 50 lbs. Must be able to perform in a busy environment, subject to frequent interruptions, subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents and family members, subject to falls, infectious diseases, substances, odors. Must be willing to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
