Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge of and experience with developmental disabilities Written and oral communication skills, i.e., able to write documentation, incident reports, medical reports, be able to be pleasant and respectful with others at all times, be able to share information in a professional manner. This includes the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals varying from professional and family members to individuals with significant disabilities. Ability to asses and prioritize client's needs Knowledge and ability to use principles of reinforcement Knowledge an ability to use concepts of normalization, circles of support, and inclusion in the community. Ability of function as an equal and contributing member of a team. Ability to conduct self in professional manner at all times Ability to learn and incorporate new ideas and concepts into practices Positive and reinforcing attitude. Able to keep self motivated under pressure and remain pleasant and demonstrate sound judgement Sound judgement and problem solving skills Provide instruction in independent living skills including, but not limited to meal preparation, grocery shopping and meal planning, nutrition, health and safety in the home and the community, budgeting and banking, mobility training, problem solving, socialism community integration, laundry and clothing care. Support Provide support in areas listed above, as well as other not listed Emergency Intervention Respond to and evaluate emergency and crisis situations Be available for intervention Documentation Documentation, per GSAT policy, support, instruction, and intervention offered to clients Communication Communicate verbally and by written word the needs and progress of clients Participate in team planning of consumer goals Participate in-service training Participate in staff/consumer activities Other Individual tasks determined by individual client's need Job Qualifications Be in good general health Be clear of tuberculosis Have a current California Driver's License Have or be able to obtain fingerprint clearance Have a current CPR and community First Aid card or "be willing to obtain one" Be a High School graduate Having familiarity of needs of adults with intellectual disability Be accepting of concepts of normalization Demonstrate honesty and integrity Demonstrate positive interactions with peers and clients Demonstrate maturity and sound judgement Good command of written and oral English language Compensation/ Benefits Position pay range: $17.00 per hour depending on skills, experience, and performance.
