Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you an outgoing, experienced caregiver who is looking to advance your career into program leadership? Homewatch CareGivers of San Rafael is launching a new on-site caregiving partnership with a Retirement Community. We are hiring a founding team member who will help establish trust with residents, families, and community staff from the very beginning, and whose performance will directly shape how the partnership is perceived as it moves toward full launch. You will be the face of Homewatch CareGivers inside the community, working closely with our team to refine intake processes, gather feedback, and set the standard for every caregiver who joins the program after you.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as an on-site brand ambassador for Homewatch CareGivers, building trusting relationships with residents, families, and the community's activities, and staff.
  • Model the professionalism and reliability that will set the tone for future caregivers joining the team as the program scales.
  • Provide compassionate, professional non-medical caregiving support to community residents, including personal care, mobility assistance, medication reminders, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and companionship as the client base expands and more employees are hired.
  • Participate actively in the new client recruiting activities — sharing with Homewatch CareGiver's leadership observations on what's working, what residents and staff are asking for, and where processes need adjustment.
  • Help develop, communicate and refine resident-facing materials, intake templates, and care documentation before they are rolled out community-wide.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with the Homewatch CareGivers team on resident status changes, scheduling needs, and any concerns.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Ensure that residents and their families report high satisfaction and trust in the care provided.
  • Ensure that the community staff view Homewatch CareGivers as a dependable, easy-to-work-with partner.
  • Develop strong lines of communication with Homewatch CareGivers leadership.
  • Provide consistent feedback to directly improve onboarding materials and workflows used in the full program launch.
  • You're seen internally as a model for the caregiver experience the program aims to replicate at future communities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience providing non-medical caregiving to older adults, ideally in a senior living, assisted living, or home care setting.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with residents, families, and community staff on a daily basis.
  • Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable demeanor — well suited to a new, evolving program where processes are still being refined.
  • Current HCA registry status and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain), and any state-required caregiver certifications.
  • Able to pass a background check and health screening per Homewatch CareGivers standards.
  • Reliable transportation with a clean driving record.
PREFERRED QUALITIES
  • Experience working within or alongside a senior living community (rather than solely private-home care).
  • A collaborative mindset — comfortable giving input that shapes a program still in its early stages.
  • Familiarity with care documentation, intake processes, or client onboarding.
WHY JOIN THIS ROLE
As the first caregiver on this partnership, you'll have a direct hand in shaping a program designed to expand to additional communities over time. You'll receive close support from the Homewatch CareGivers leadership team throughout the program development, along with the opportunity to grow into a lead or mentor role as the program brings on additional caregivers.
Pay:
$25.00 - $27.00 per hour
