Job Description
Salary:
$25.00 - $33.00 per hour (Dependent on experience) We are seeking an upbeat, engaging, and responsible companion/caregiver to support our 18-year-old son who has autism. This is a private household position focused on socialization, building companionship, and helping him navigate his daily routines. Base School-Year Schedule (18 hours/week):
Mondays:
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesdays through
Fridays:
2:30 PM - 6:00
PM Schedule Flexibility & Growth:
Summer Schedule:
This position requires expanded hours during the summer months when school is out.
Additional Opportunities:
We are highly flexible and can offer more hours during the week for the right candidate.
Occasional Weekends:
We are looking for someone who is open to providing care on occasional weekends as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation & Outings:
Pick up our son from his school program in La Crescenta and drive him to our home in South Pasadena.
Community Socialization:
Accompany and engage him during light errands. He loves going to grocery stores, and we want someone who will make these outings interactive and fun!
Companionship:
Spend quality time socializing, talking, and engaging in activities at home to keep his spirits high.
Medical Appointments:
Provide transportation and support during occasional doctor's appointments.
Meal Preparation & Dietary Adherence:
Our son follows a strict medical Keto diet. The caregiver must be comfortable precisely following specific dietary recipes and restrictions (no hidden carbs/sugars).
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Work Authorization:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Driving Requirements:
Must have a reliable vehicle, a clean driving record, and valid auto insurance.
Experience:
Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or neurodivergent young adults is highly preferred.
Personality:
Energetic, positive, patient, and naturally upbeat.
Environment:
Comfortable around a small, friendly household pet. Must be willing to undergo a standard background check.
Pay:
$25.00 - $33.00 per hour Expected hours: 18.0 per week
