Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Personal Caregiver (Care Attendant), where your compassion and skills will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring assistance with daily activities. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care, support independence, and promote well-being in various settings such as private homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, and nursing homes. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a safe, comfortable environment for those you serve. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking to promote health and comfort. Administer medications following prescribed schedules while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality. Support clients with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia by implementing care plans that enhance safety and engagement. Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks, laundry assistance, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed. Document care activities meticulously, including patient observations, medication administration records, and updates to care plans for compliance and quality assurance. Qualifications Proven experience in home & community care or long-term care environments; group home or assisted living experience is highly valued. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are preferred. Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory impairments like Alzheimer's disease. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist with patient transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing early signs of health deterioration. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, healthcare teams, and social workers. Knowledge of medication administration procedures and basic nursing practices; experience with hospice or home health care is a plus.
