Interaction with and direct supervision of residents in the assigned Intensive Transitional Treatment Center in accordance with state, agency, and departmental guidelines. Perform duties as shift supervisor in the absence of the shift supervisor.- Per the Department of Children and Families, all direct care staff working in ITTCs are required to maintain a Medication Administration Certification and both a TCI De-escalation Techniques (Part A) and TCI Physical Intervention Techniques (Part B) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise, counsel, train, orient, and evaluate all children under their supervision. Ensure an appropriate environment where safety and security are maintained for all residents. Take immediate corrective action as necessary and report all deficiencies in health standards, safety standards, and general housekeeping standards to the shift supervisor Assistant Director or Director of ITTC. Ensure the basic needs of the residents assigned to their care are met. These needs include personal hygiene, nutrition and personal comfort items, such as clothing, and living conditions. Supervise all aspects of daily routines, to include meals, wake-up and bedtime, showers, recreational activities, etc. Ensure supervision of students is in accordance with the ITTC Behavioral/Incentive Program and procedures. Respond in accordance with agency and ITTC procedures to situations which require physical and/or emotional intervention with the residents. Respond in accordance with agency and ITTC procedures to all emergency situations, i.e., medical, fire, police intervention, etc. Follow guidelines, as prescribed by the health clinic and other medical professionals, for the medical care of residents. Maintain all necessary documentation including logbooks, incident reports, use physical intervention forms, checklists, etc. Develop and coordinate recreation activities. Attend and provide input to ITTC team meetings to assist in the development of treatment plans. Perform duties as shift supervisor in the absence of the shift supervisor. Administer a training program for entry level personnel, as developed by the shift supervisor. Administer medications to residents according to established procedures and maintain State Certifications. Maintain knowledge of and follow Agency policies and procedures as contained in the WCS Personnel Handbook, WCS Procedure Manual, and departmental manuals. Function as a positive role model for all students and staff at the Waterford Country School. Maintain an awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic differences present among the service population and fellow staff members of WCS, ensuring that cultural needs are respected and supported through the delivery of services and the development and implementation of agency programs and policies in a manner that is free from discrimination and bias relating to race, ethnicity, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, status as a victim of domestic violence or religious beliefs. Maintain a valid Connecticut or other home state Driver's License to transport residents in agency vehicles. Other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor or shelter administrative personnel.
