Companion Staff Ruskin, FL 33570 $15 an hour - Part-time $15 an hour - Part-time Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and age-related care needs. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized support to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Whether working in group homes, assisted living facilities, or community settings, your energy and dedication will help create a nurturing environment where clients can thrive. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to empower others while developing valuable skills in patient care and support services. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper dosage and timing according to care plans. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs. Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive atmosphere that encourages social interaction and mental well-being. Provide companionship and transportation to outings of individuals choice. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and manual handling procedures such as heavy lifting or the Hoyer lift. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information. Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or neurodevelopmental disorders. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required. Strong communication skills combined with patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to caregiving.
