Job Description

Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiver Job Summary:
As an Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregiver at Cornerstone Caregiving, you will make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals living with Alzheimer's and dementia-related diseases. Our caregivers are dedicated to providing exceptional, dementia-informed care and support, with a focus on personalized care plans, patience, and consistency. This is a specialized role — we are looking for caregivers who understand the unique challenges of dementia care, not general caregiving alone.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Timely reminders to clients about prescribed medications Assisting with mobility in and around the house, including fall-risk awareness Personal care and hygiene support Preparing meals in line with dietary needs Light housekeeping Companionship and meaningful engagement Using redirection and calm de-escalation techniques for confusion, agitation, or sundowning Supporting client safety, including wandering prevention and supervision Following individualized behavioral care plans as directed by the office and RN Observing and reporting changes in cognition, mood, or behavior to the office/family Other duties as assigned within the scope of non-medical home care
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum 1-2 years of caregiving experience, with direct, hands-on experience caring for individuals with Alzheimer's and/or dementia (required) Working knowledge of common dementia behaviors (sundowning, wandering, repetition, agitation) and appropriate response techniques A genuine passion for helping others Superior interpersonal and communication skills Unwavering patience and emotional steadiness Willingness to travel between client homes Ability to pass a background check Completion of dementia-specific training modules within the first 30 days of hire (provided via Care Academy)
