Resident Rights/ Safety and Sanitation/ Staff Development Resident Rights Knows and respects patient rights. Ensures all protected health information is kept confidential. Reports all complaints made by patients to supervisor. Reports all allegations of resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of patient properly. Safety and Sanitation Follows established safety policies and procedures. Observes safety needs of patient as indicated in care plan. Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and properly trained to use. Demonstrates job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations. Staff Development Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings, including safety committee. Participates in QAA process. Responsibilities Provide assistance to tenants as outlined on each individual service plan and complete appropriate documentation Activities of Daily Living, including bathing, dressing, hygiene and mobility Medication assistance (Under the direction of the nurse) Other medical needs Personal Laundry Monitor the health, safety and well-being of the residents. Report changes in tenant's functional status, personal needs, or health condition to RN on call Document information pertaining to changes in residents' functional status, personal needs, appointments, etc. in tenant chart as well as staff communication book. Strip and make residents' beds weekly; launder residents' linen and towels, fold and return to residents. Assist in preparing meals, serving meals and bussing tables, kitchen and dining room clean-up during mealtimes. Clean residents' apartments on assigned days and as outlined in the service plan. Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools and utensils. Encourage socialization among tenants. Wear a pager at all times and respond to tenant emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention/follow-up. Maintain an accurate record of chargeable services in the extra services notebook (extra cleaning, personal laundry, guest meals, etc). Clean common areas as scheduled. Do Facility Laundry. Clean vacated units in preparation for new tenants and assist with "Deep Cleaning. Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures. Report on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors. Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations, and personnel. Assist in keeping the environment safe. Identify supplies needed to perform tasks and report needs to supervisor. Assist with the activity program; conduct activities as directed by the Activity Coordinator or assigned by the director. Chaperone activities outside the facility when requested. Participate actively with marketing needs (provide tours, answer phone questions, etc.) Assist with office duties as needed (filing in tenant charts, general filing etc.) Attend scheduled in-services and staff meetings and participate in committees as opportunities are available Carry out other duties as assigned by the director. Work according to the Standards of Excellence. Promote The Good Neighbor Society in a positive way. Promote teamwork in providing services to tenants. Adhere to an environment of positive and top-notch customer service. Provide input into the development and updating of each tenant's service plan. Education/ Experience/Qualifications/ Physical Demands Education and Experience Training/Experience as a nursing assistant or home-health aide is preferred Certified medication training preferred Skills in nurturing and organizing like those in a domestic household Experience or interest in working with older adults DIA Assisted Living regulations

medium Lifting, pushing or pulling a minimum of 60 lbs., using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment. Ability to do bending or kneeling for up to 15 consecutive minutes to perform cleaning tasks. Ability to work 3-3.75 hours standing, walking and moving about without the need to sit down. Able to work with cleaning chemicals. Working Conditions/ Principal Contacts Working Conditions Inside and outside Principal Contacts Works closely with residents, family members, volunteers and team members. General Requirements Must be able to execute the terms and conditions set forth in the Good Neighbor Society Handbook, including, but not limited to: Works in a safety-conscious manner, which ensures that safe work practices are used in order not to pose a risk to self or others in the workplace. Reports any safely violations or hazards to supervisor. Complies with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations. Adheres to policy on Drug-Free Workplace Interacts in a tactful, diplomatic, and humanistic manner with residents, families, visitors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective caring environment which ensures the self-respect, personal dignity, rights and physical safety of each resident and facility guest. Maintains a dependable attendance record and adheres to standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.
