Job Description
Job Overview We are a 501(c)3 non-profit life care, cage-free sanctuary for special needs felines with chronic medical, physical, neurological or behavioral issues. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Caregiver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily care and cleaning of one of our four sanctuary buildings, ensuring feline residents are healthy, safe, and comfortable. You will work closely with our medical team of veterinary professionals to provide high-quality care in a supportive cage-free environment. This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for animals and have good time management skills. Individuals with exceptional cleaning skills that are comfortable working around multiple animals are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and providing environment enrichment. Maintain clean and safe living environments for all felines. Monitor the health and behavior of residents, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff. Assist with animal restraint during examinations or procedures if needed. Support veterinary technicians in administering medications and treatments as needed. Assist in the training of new staff members on proper cleaning protocols in assigned shelter areas. Engage with visitors as needed, know our shelter mission. Skills Experience working in a kennel, shelter or veterinary clinic setting is preferred. Proficiency in animal care techniques, including feeding, grooming, and basic medical care. Experience in animal handling skills, and general understanding of how to access animal temperaments as well as handle/restrain if necessary. Ability to perform tasks related to daily caregiver cleaning position. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Strong communication skills for interacting with Director, team members and medical staff. Attention to detail in maintaining building upkeep and ensuring high standards of cleanliness in assigned areas on-site.
