Job Description

Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. This position involves working closely with clients to enhance their quality of life, promote independence, and ensure their safety and well-being. DSPs are responsible for fostering a supportive environment that respects resident rights and encourages personal growth. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support in various settings such as residential homes, outings and job search Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, focusing on enhancing their skills and independence. Monitor and document client progress, including vital signs and behavioral changes. Ensure a clean and safe living environment by maintaining hygiene standards and assisting with household tasks. Advocate for client rights and promote self-advocacy among individuals served. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care, including CPR and first aid when necessary. Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement, particularly in memory care settings. Skills Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is highly valued. Knowledge of CPR and first aid techniques is essential for ensuring client safety. Strong organizational skills to maintain cleanliness and order within the living space. Ability to prepare nutritious meals while considering dietary restrictions or preferences. Compassionate approach to assisting individuals with daily tasks while promoting dignity and respect.
