Job Description

Job Overview Our family is seeking a mature, classy, compassionate, and dedicated Caregiver(s) to provide essential support to a family member in need of assistance with daily living activities. As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for him, ensuring his comfort, safety, and well-being. This position requires a nurturing attitude and the ability to work effectively with someone who suffers from dementia and Parkinson's Disease. So the ideal caregiver will be able to support him in the steps needed to complete his projects, be open to learning from him, and can think out of the box when handling his concerns. MUST be willing and patient to assist our family member with redundant projects in his office, e.g. organizing, filing, sorting, arranging desk drawers, picking things up, etc. Must be willing to listen and enjoy music as our family member likes to work with stereo speakers. We look for individuals which have something unique going on in their lives: advanced education, other jobs they've had which are particularly engaging, special projects they've taken on which required advanced thinking or training, etc. Please be prepared to talk about this. Duties Have meaningful engagement with him when you can tell he is not keeping himself busy, e.g. asking about what he's doing, "work" on projects he wants to work on, ask him about making lists, maybe encourage him to do light exercises, read to him about things he wants to know about from internet, etc. Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide companionship and emotional support with patience and kindness. Monitor and document patient vital signs and health status. Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans. Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and assist with meal preparation. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties, including keeping his bedding and clothes clean and put away.. Provide care to our loved one with specific needs such as memory care and physical impairments. Possible visits to the Dr. Caretaker is expected to keep the areas he uses clean, e.g. crumbs on the floor picked up, linens and clothes washed and put away, empty his trash, clean the marks he leaves on the floor, spot clean carpet and lift chair when needed, etc. Requirements Previous experience with in-home caregiving such as home health or other significant work with handicapped adults. This experience needs to be with someone other than your relative as that is a different relationship. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with Dementia and Parkinson's Disease. Strong skills in patient observation and monitoring are essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for patient transfers or mobility assistance. Must be physically capable of assisting with falls. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. A compassionate demeanor and a genuine desire to help others are crucial for success in this role. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Be willing to drive family's vehicle to various appointments. Must be a fun person willing to listen to stories and with patience to work on projects he would like to complete. For night shifts, you must be able to be awake with him as many times his sleeping schedule is off normal and he will be up at night and needs to be monitored and assisted. Hours and Pay The pay starts at $25/hour commensurate with your skill set. This is a part-time position. Pay will occur bi-weekly.
Shifts needing to be covered:
Saturday mornings: 9am to 1pm. Thursday 8-4:30, Fill-I n for others, Weekend overnight shifts, possibly Backup for others during critical times I cannot be without someone There will be opportunities to substitute for other caregivers on staff for shifts throughout the week.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 4.0 - 20.0 per week
