Full Job Description Bilingual Teen Mom & Infant Support Specialist Job Summary:
The Teen Mom & Infant Support Specialist works in the Gerard House Program that provides safe, stable housing and wraparound support services to pregnant and parenting teens, helping young mothers and their babies get a healthy start in life. In this role, team members supervise and promote the well-being of each resident through trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and restorative practices. This position is a vital part of helping young moms, many of whom are navigating motherhood for the first time and may lack experience with children, develop the skills and confidence needed to care for their babies and themselves.Schedule:
Sunday - Thursday 2pm - 10pmMajor Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and document the behavior, emotional state, and activities of young mothers and their infants; report any concerns regarding health, safety, or well-being to the appropriate authority. Maintain a safe and nurturing environment that supports both mother and child. Provide daily living support, including preparing meals, administering medications, transporting clients to appointments (including pediatric and OB/GYN visits), supporting school attendance or educational efforts, helping clients access and maintain clean clothing for themselves and their babies, performing housekeeping tasks as needed, and conducting 30-minute safety checks. Serve as a positive role model to help clients develop appropriate parenting and life skills. Use trauma-informed, survivor-centered communication strategies to encourage healing, confidence, and empowerment. Process intakes and discharges; complete necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Provide new residents with a clear orientation to the home, expectations, and available supports. Plan and facilitate therapeutic and educational programming with a focus on parenting, child development, life skills, and emotional wellness. Collaborate with case managers and therapists to tailor support to each resident's needs.Expectations:
Meet deadlines and complete 95% of assigned projects/tasks on schedule. Display strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Maintain composure in a high-stress environment while being sensitive to the emotional and developmental needs of parenting teens. Represent Gerard House with professionalism and compassion.Qualifications:
Experience:
1-2 years of related experience preferred, especially in youth services, childcare, residential support, or social services.Education:
High school diploma or GED required.Other Requirements:
Valid driver's licenseBilingual:
English/Spanish Skills & Competencies:
Strong interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence. Ability to assist and guide youth through challenges using empathy, structure, and restorative practices. Comfortable assisting teen moms with childcare basics (e.g., feeding, diapering, bathing, safe sleep routines). Basic computer literacy for documentation and communication.Pay:
