Job Description :
This position provides dedicated 1:1 support for an adult individual who requires intensive behavioral and daily living support. The DSP will work directly with the individual in their home and community while strictly following their Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) and therapeutic recommendations. This role requires consistency, emotional regulation, physical stamina, and a calm, structured approach to care. Shifts may be 4, 6, 8, or 12 hours, including days, evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays. Role and Responsibilities Individualized Support Provide continuous 1:1 supervision and support. Implement and follow the Behavioral Support Plan (BSP) exactly as written. Utilize de-escalation techniques and proactive strategies. Maintain a structured environment to reduce anxiety and behavioral triggers. Recognize nonverbal communication cues and respond appropriately. Daily Living Assistance Support with personal hygiene, bathing routines, dressing, toileting, and grooming. Provide assistance with positioning and mobility as needed. Prepare meals according to menu and dietary preferences. Support household tasks including cleaning, shopping, and organization. Administer medications per agency policy and complete required documentation. Community & Routine Support Safely transport and accompany the individual to appointments and outings. Maintain predictable routines in community settings. Ensure safety in public environments. Support engagement in preferred and therapeutic activities. Documentation & Compliance Complete detailed behavior documentation and incident reports. Maintain accurate daily logs. Attend required training courses including CPR/First Aid and behavioral trainings. Participate in BSP review meetings as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
Staff must:
Remain calm during escalations. Follow de-escalation strategies consistently. Maintain professional boundaries. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Graduate or GED. Extensive on-the-job training. Capable of On-line Computer training 6-12 months experience in the human services field preferred A caring attitude with a dedication to assisting others Successfully pass background checks and drug screening. Experience with severe autism or behavioral support is strongly preferred.. Consistent and dependable. Observant and detail oriented. Comfortable working in structured environments. Understands trauma-informed and behavior-based support is strongly preferred. Physical Requirements Capability of lifting and positioning clients when necessary. Special Requirements Valid driver's license is required. Ability to work flexible schedule including overnights, weekends and holidays
