Overview Direct care staff shall provide a nurturing and stable environment for the youth. They will assume all normal parental duties and responsibilities for youth and home, including, but not limited to: providing 24-hour supervision for youth, cooking, some cleaning, transporting to and from school and appointments, administration of medication and documentation, shopping; assist the children in meeting the goals and objectives of their individual service plans, promote the physical and emotional well-being of the children, and other designated duties within reason. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, caregiving, and experience working with youth. Prior experience in assisted living, home health, or long-term care is highly valued. Responsibilities Assist youth with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including, cooking, some cleaning, budgeting, meal planning and time management. Document youth activities for the day by creating progress notes that are submitted daily to program director. Administer medications and following care plans given by physicians and program director. Support youth with meal preparation and ensuring nutritional needs are met. Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each youth's needs. Provide emotional support to promote mental well-being. Assist with transportation to and from school, appointments, work, church and youth activities. Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular inspections of home and ensuring youth are completing their daily chores. Document care activities accurately and report any concerns to supervisors and program director. Respond promptly to emergencies by administering first aid or CPR when necessary Work collaboratively with team members, families, social workers, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. Qualifications Prior experience in group home settings, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care preferred The house parents must be at least 21 years of age and possess at least a high school diploma or GED and at least (1) year of direct service experience with children and families or have an Associate degree or higher in a behavioral or social science field. Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus Strong communication skills and compassionate attitude toward youth's needs Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed Staff must have reliable transportation This role is vital in providing respectful and attentive care that enhances the quality of life for youth.
