Direct Care Worker (DCW) Adult Foster Care (AFC) Hudson Home I Inc. Detroit, Michigan Part-Time (30-32 Hours Per Week)

Hudson Home I Inc. is a licensed Adult Foster Care (AFC) Large Group Home serving adults receiving mental health and developmental disability services. Work Schedule Applicants must be available to work the following schedule:
(Wakeup finish shift) 6:00 AM•9:00 AM After completing evening responsibilities on Saturday, staff clock out for their scheduled overnight sleep period and remain on-site. Staff return to duty by clocking in at 6:00 AM Sunday to complete the remainder of their shift. If resident care or an emergency requires staff assistance during the overnight sleep period, staff must clock in immediately and will be compensated at 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for all approved time worked during the interruption, in accordance with Hudson Home policy. This position requires reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to work as part of a team in a structured residential setting. Employees are expected to assist with resident care, housekeeping, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful home. Position Summary The Direct Care Worker (DCW) provides direct supervision, personal care, medication administration (after training), documentation, meal preparation, housekeeping, and support services to adults receiving residential services in accordance with Hudson Home policies and Michigan Adult Foster Care licensing requirements. This position requires professionalism, compassion, patience, reliability, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a safe, structured, and respectful home environment. Essential Job DutiesResident Care Supervise residents throughout assigned shifts. Assist residents with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and other activities of daily living. Encourage resident independence while providing appropriate support. Promote dignity, respect, and positive interactions. Monitor residents and promptly report changes in behavior, health, or safety concerns. Medication Administration Administer medications after successfully completing Hudson Home training. Follow all medication administration procedures and documentation requirements. Report medication concerns immediately to management. Documentation Complete required progress notes accurately and on time. Complete incident reports as required. Document services provided in accordance with Hudson Home policies. Communicate resident concerns to management promptly. Household Responsibilities Direct Care Workers share responsibility for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe home environment.
Responsibilities include:
Cleaning resident bathrooms Cleaning common living areas Laundry Kitchen cleaning and sanitation Bedroom inspections Garbage removal Restocking household supplies Meal preparation Meal service Dishwashing Resident Support Prepare residents for appointments and day programs. Assist with transportation readiness. Participate in recreational activities and community outings when assigned. Encourage resident participation in daily routines and activities.
Qualifications Applicants should possess:
Minimum age of 18 years. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Ability to successfully pass required criminal background checks. Reliable transportation. Excellent attendance and punctuality. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents when necessary. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Medication administration experience is preferred but not required . Paid training is provided. This position requires working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 4:00 PM-10:00 PM and Saturday from 5:00 PM-10:00 PM with an in-home overnight sleep assignment, clocking back in Sunday morning from 6:00 AM-9:00 AM.
