About This Role:
As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Home Helpers, you will provide hands-on personal care and support services to clients in their homes across the Durham and Chapel Hill areas. You will be supervised by our Director of Clinical Services to implement the care plan with our clients. This is a part-time position with a flexible, variable schedule. Our hourly pay is $18 (or commensurate with experience) and hours will grow as our client base expands. As a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Home Helpers, you will provide hands-on personal care and support services to clients in their homes across the Durham and Chapel Hill area. You will work closely with our Lead CNA and Director of Clinical Services, following an individualized care plan for each client. This is a part-time position with a flexible, variable schedule. Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Personal Care Bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, and hair care Dressing and undressing Skin care and prevention of skin breakdown Toileting assistance and incontinence care Positioning and safe transfer assistance Mobility & Safety Support Assisting with ambulation and prescribed exercises per the client's care plan Ensuring a safe environment and using assistive equipment correctly (transfer belts, side rails, footstools, etc.) Observing clients and responding calmly to changes in condition or behavior Household & Nutritional Support Light housekeeping and maintaining the client's living space in a clean, orderly condition Planning and preparing nutritious meals; assisting with feeding when necessary Doing the client's laundry as appropriate Documentation & Communication Documenting all care provided accurately and on time using the agency's EVV system (WellSky) Reporting any changes in client condition or concerns to the Lead CNA or Director of Clinical Services promptly Following all agency policies, care procedures, and documentation standards
Our Job Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of experience in a personal care, home health, or caregiving role At least 18 years of age Ability to pass a criminal background check per NC G.S. 131E-265 and NC Health Care Personnel Registry clearance Negative TB skin test or CXR per NC DHSR requirements Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date) Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license; personal vehicle insured per NC requirements OR a demonstrated, reliable method of transportation ensuring on-time arrival Physical ability to perform caregiving tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance), and assisting with client transfers
Preferred:
Experience in home care or community-based settings (as opposed to facility-only) Experience working with individuals with a variety of conditions and complexities CNA certification (not required, but valued) Familiarity with electronic visit verification (EVV) or scheduling apps
