Job Description

Overview The Direct Care Worker plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities. This position involves working closely with clients to enhance their quality of life through compassionate care, skill development, and daily living support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering independence and dignity in those they serve. Duties Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including residential and community environments. Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors. Support clients in developing social skills and engaging in community activities. Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, incidents, and any changes in behavior or health status. Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers and special education staff, to create individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs. Foster a safe and supportive environment that encourages independence and personal growth. Requirements Experience or education in social work, special education, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with autism or developmental disabilities. Skills in caregiving and direct support are essential for success in this role. Knowledge of medication administration practices is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members. Ability to implement behavior management techniques effectively. A compassionate attitude towards assisting individuals in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life.
