Job Description
Job Summary:
The Personal Care Aide provides compassionate, non-medical assistance to clients in their homes or residential settings. The aide helps clients maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life by assisting with activities of daily living, companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and transportation. Personal Care Aides do not provide medical treatment or administer medications unless permitted by state regulations and employer policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: Bathing and personal hygiene Dressing and grooming Toileting and incontinence care Mobility assistance and transfers Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary. Perform light housekeeping tasks, including: Laundry Vacuuming and dusting Dishwashing Changing bed linens Maintaining a clean and safe environment Provide companionship and emotional support. Assist with grocery shopping, errands, and transportation to appointments or community activities. Remind clients to take prescribed medications (medication reminders only; no administration unless authorized). Observe and report changes in the client's physical, emotional, or living condition to the supervisor. Maintain accurate daily care notes and documentation. Follow individualized care plans and agency policies. Respect client confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries. Comply with all safety, infection control, and emergency procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in home care, caregiving, or customer service preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and supervisors. Compassionate, dependable, patient, and professional demeanor. Ability to lift, transfer, or assist clients as required. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance. Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Strong observation and reporting skills. Ability to maintain client dignity and confidentiality. Basic understanding of personal care and home safety practices. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods. Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Ability to assist clients with mobility and positioning. Manual dexterity sufficient to perform personal care tasks. Work Environment Client homes, assisted living communities, or residential care settings. Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
