ASAP Local/New Jersey-area candidates strongly preferred Exceptional Care Group is seeking an experienced, dependable live-in caregiver with strong hands-on transfer and personal-care experience for a long-term private home care assignment supporting an adult female client. This position is best suited for a caregiver who has previously worked with wheelchair-dependent or mobility-impaired clients and is confident assisting with transfers, toileting, bathing, dressing, feeding, and other activities of daily living. This is also a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys travel. The family spends part of the winter at their home in Florida , takes additional trips throughout the year, and there may also be an opportunity to accompany the client and family on a cruise . About the Client The client is an adult female with a history of stroke who is wheelchair dependent and requires significant hands-on assistance with her daily routine. She has limited verbal communication but understands what is happening around her and participates in her care. Transfer experience is extremely important for this assignment. The caregiver must be comfortable providing hands-on assistance with transfers between the bed, wheelchair, toilet, and other surfaces. The caregiver should understand safe body mechanics and be prepared to maintain the client's safety if she provides limited assistance during a transfer. The client also requires assistance with personal care, toileting, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, feeding, mobility, and supervision. She has a PEG tube that is currently not being used for feeding. Responsibilities Safely perform hands-on transfers involving a wheelchair-dependent client Assist with bed, wheelchair and toileting transfers Use appropriate body mechanics and recognize when a transfer cannot be performed safely Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and hygiene Provide appropriate perineal/personal care Prepare meals and provide hands-on feeding assistance Provide wheelchair and mobility assistance Provide companionship and safety supervision Maintain the client's immediate environment and perform light housekeeping related to her care Follow the client's established daily routine Observe and report changes or concerns to the RN/care coordinator Accompany the client and family during travel when arranged Who We're Looking For We are specifically looking for someone with recent, hands-on caregiving experience . Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in: CNA/HHA, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, group home or similar hands-on care Wheelchair-dependent clients Stand/pivot and other hands-on transfers Stroke care Toileting and personal hygiene Feeding assistance Live-in caregiving Clients requiring substantial assistance with ADLs Candidates should be able to clearly explain their previous transfer experience during the interview process. Applicants must communicate effectively in English and be dependable, patient, safety-conscious and comfortable working independently in a private home. Live-In & Travel Opportunity This is intended to become a consistent, long-term live-in assignment for the right caregiver. Travel availability is strongly preferred. The family spends part of the winter at their Florida residence and may take additional trips throughout the year. There may also be an opportunity to accompany the client and family on a cruise . Specific travel dates, arrangements and expectations will be discussed in advance. Compensation $225 per day Exceptional Care Group is RN-led. The caregiver will have nursing oversight and a direct point of contact for questions, changes in condition and care coordination.
