Full Job Description Overview of BLOC:
We are an inner-city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 70 where we have after school programs, a sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, two coffee shops, screen printing, equine assisted learning, an immigrant welcome center, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors.
Position Summary:
The Lead Survivor Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, temporary shelter for adult women and their children who are Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence. The SSS is to ensure that Trauma-Informed Care is provided to residents and other staff members. The SSS fosters a positive work and living environment for all. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Promote a Positive, Uplifting, and Supportive Environment Reviews all Shift Documentation ( Shift Change Report, Security Check Form etc.) and Conducts Touch Base Meetings with Next Shift SSS Provide Guidance on Crisis Intervention and De-Escalation Practices, Trauma Informed Care and Conducts "In-the-Moment" Follow-Ups etc. Notifies Program Manager/Director of any Concerns needing Management Follow-Up. Guides Residents in Following Shelter Policies and Procedures Assists with Special Events as Needed Lead One Support Group/In-House Weekly Hotline & Phone Management Answers Hotline Calls/Conducts Hotline Assessments Provides Crisis Intervention, Safety Planning, and Information/Referral to Callers Takes Messages for Residents and Staff, Returns Calls when Appropriate Physical and Mental Demands The physical and mental demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
