Job Description
Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. This role requires a commitment to patient care, effective communication, and a strong understanding of the needs of those with varying abilities. Duties Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide client observation and monitoring to ensure safety and well-being. Support individuals in community integration and engagement activities. Maintain a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning and organization. Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans tailored to individual needs. Document vital signs and any changes in the individual's condition accurately. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to provide comprehensive care. Engage in meaningful interactions that promote social skills and independence. Skills Candidates should possess a variety of skills that enhance their ability to provide exceptional support: First Aid and CPR certification is preferred. Experience in group homes, assisted living, or nursing home settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Experience behavior support Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of client information. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting individuals with mobility challenges. Experience in homemaker personal care. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members. A background in social work or caregiving can be beneficial for understanding client needs.
