Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Companion & Caregiver to provide warm, personalized support for an independent woman living with early-stage dementia. This role offers an enriching opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone's daily life by offering companionship, assistance with daily activities and ensuring safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will be proactive, patient and attentive to the individual's needs, fostering a positive environment that promotes independence and dignity. This paid position is perfect for someone passionate about caregiving, with a strong desire to support individuals navigating memory challenges in a respectful and empowering manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Meals & nutrition Prepare 2-3 meals a day together with her (cooking with her, not just for her — she enjoys being involved) Light housekeeping Keep the home tidy and comfortable Change and wash bed sheets on a regular schedule Keep household basics stocked — toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. Health & routine support Make sure medications are filled/refilled on time and help her take them as scheduled Gently help keep her oriented to the day, time and routine Notice and flag any changes in mood, memory or behavior to the family Companionship Genuine conversation, patience with repeated stories or questions and a calm presence Activities she enjoys: puzzles, music, cards, gardening, walks Reassurance and redirection if she becomes confused or anxious, rather than correction or argument Sit and eat with her; mealtimes are also social time Check the fridge/pantry regularly and restock groceries so food doesn't go unnoticed and expire What we're looking for Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's or memory care (paid or as a family caregiver) Patient, warm and unhurried. Someone who can meet her where she is each day. Comfortable with gentle redirection techniques rather than correcting or arguing with someone who's confused. Reliable and consistent. Routine matters a lot for her comfort and sense of security. Good communicator with family regarding any changes or concerns. Driver's license and background check required Why this role You'd be joining our family in an important way.
