Job Description

We are hiring in Clackamas County Part-time and full time available within the hours of 8am-6pm, M-F. Northwest Habilitation Services of Portland is committed to helping clients with persistent mental illness overcome the challenges of daily living through our unique approach and experienced care team. This is not a caregiving position. As a Direct Support Specialist your role will be to provide motivation and guidance to clients. We want to
Plant SEEDs of Success:
Set Goals that are real and achievable Engage with our clients to build trust Establish routines with clients to build self-confidence Develop Calendaring skills to stay on track As a DSS your job is to help our clients learn the skills needed to live and succeed in their community. You may work in supported housing setups as well as in individual households. Our skills-building program focuses on teaching and reinforcing these primary areas: Hygiene Reminders Housekeeping How to do Laundry Meal Preparation and Menu Planning Grocery Shopping Money Management Calendaring and Planning Health and Safety Social Inclusions and Communication Public Transit We use a Person-Centered approach utilizing a Support Plan (CCSP) tailored to the specific needs of the individual receiving services. We teach and assist clients in accessing community resources such as food boxes, healthcare appointments, and other services as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients. Meets standards for documentation and accuracy of work.
Job Requirements:
18 years or older (required) High school diploma or GED (required) Driver's license (preferred) Reliable vehicle (preferred) Clear background check 15 hour minimum scheduling commitment Physical requirements include but not limited to walking, standing, bending, stooping, and carrying up to 20 pounds for 2-4 hour shifts
