Unpaid 30‑minute break Position Summary The Paraprofessional Classroom Assistant supports students by providing academic, behavioral, and personal‑care assistance under the direction of a teacher or case manager. This role helps implement individualized educational programs and ensures a safe, supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities Student Support
  • Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group instruction as directed, including cognitive, motor, feeding, self‑help, and behavioral skill development. Health & Safety Assistance
  • Maintain awareness of student needs and environmental risks to ensure safety. Personal Care
  • Assist with hygiene tasks such as handwashing, toileting, diapering, and clothing changes. Behavior Support
  • Monitor and reinforce appropriate behavior following established guidelines. Physical Assistance
  • Help students with positioning, lifting, mobility, and orthopedic equipment (e.g., braces). Mainstreaming Support
  • Prepare students for participation in general education settings. Collaboration
  • Work with teachers, case managers, specialists, and other staff to support student goals. Record Keeping
  • Assist with maintaining documentation related to student progress. Training Participation
  • Attend required in‑service sessions and medical or instructional training. Other Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities consistent with the role.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Previous experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, and basic record‑keeping Ability to use correct English grammar, spelling, and vocabulary Ability to work independently and collaboratively Required Clearances & Documentation (All must be current within required timeframes) PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) PA Criminal Background Check (Act 34) FBI Fingerprinting (PA Dept. of Education) TB Test (within 3 months) Arrest/Conviction Report (Act 24) Proof of Education (Diploma or Official Transcripts) Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (Act 126
