Immediate / ASAP About the Program The MCIU Transition program provides a vibrant, supportive environment where students with diverse learning needs are empowered to develop the skills they need for greater independence and success after high school. PCAs will work alongside teachers, therapists, and other educational professionals to support students with daily activities, classroom participation, communication, social skills, self-regulation, and functional academics. Students participate in highly individualized programs designed to build independence and prepare them for adulthood. Depending on the classroom and student needs, programming may include:
Intensive Support Transition:
Individualized instruction and therapeutic support focused on functional academics, communication, self-regulation, and independence.
Student Success Center:
A supportive environment designed to help students develop skills for success in school, the community, and future employment.
Work, Learn & Grow:
Hands-on opportunities that help students develop vocational and workplace skills. Community-Based Training and Readiness (CTR): Real-world experiences focused on independence, community participation, and job readiness. ABLE (Academic and Behavioral Learning Environment): Supports students in strengthening academic engagement, behavioral strategies, and skills necessary for continued success. Responsibilities As a PCA, you may be responsible for: Providing one-on-one and/or classroom support to students with special needs. Assisting students with daily living and functional activities as needed. Supporting students with communication, social, behavioral, and self-regulation skills. Helping students participate in classroom instruction and activities. Assisting with transitions between classrooms, activities, and community-based settings. Supporting students during vocational and work-based learning activities. Following individualized student support plans and directions from classroom staff. Providing positive reinforcement and encouragement to help students build independence. Maintaining a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other members of the educational team. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required. Experience as a PCA, paraprofessional, teacher's assistant, behavioral health technician, caregiver, or similar role is a plus. Patient, dependable, compassionate, and willing to learn. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and maintain confidentiality.
