Job Description
Volunteer Behavioral Health is now seeking a fulltime, dedicated Client Assistant in the Murfreesboro, Tn area.
Starting pay:
$17.00PH Schedule available: (FT-Fri, Sat, Sun, 7p-7a) (FT-Mon, Tue, Wed, 7P-7A) (PRN-7p-7a) (PRN-7a-7p)EDUCATIONAL/ EXPERIENCE
Must have High School Diploma or GED. One year of mental health experience preferred.Summary:
CA's will be working in conjunction with their assigned nurses. They're responsible for providing client supervision and maintaining facility orderliness and structure in a 24/7 supportive treatment environment.EXEMPLARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact with guests, visitors, family members and outside providers in a professional and welcoming manner always acknowledging their presence.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible and cohesive relationship with clients, co-workers, and the public while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Never share personal information, social media information, or anything that may allow a client to identify you or any staff member. Report all attempts to obtain such information to your supervisor and include it in the end of shift report.
- Immediately report any change noted in client behavior or physical condition to the charge nurse.
- Employ de-escalation techniques mediating potential crisis between clients when necessary and if safe to do so. Immediately report to charge nurse.
- Follow the VBHCS in house crisis response plan in case of emergency psychiatric emergency (i.e. suicidal/homicidal ideation or threats) with the direction of supervisor.
- Attend meetings and trainings in-house, electronic, virtual, etc. as directed by supervisor.
- Provide shift reports via email including completed checklists to supervisor at the end of each shift. Conduct client property searches, obtain vital signs, breathalyzer, and Urine Drug Screen (UDS) as directed by nurses or supervisor. Follow agency protocol for a presumptive positive screen.
- Assist nurses with assigned client's vital signs and medication pass.
- Facilitate new client orientation and tour upon admission. Introduce the new client to other clients when welcoming them to the treatment milieu.
- Assist clients in adjusting to the milieu routines and encourage their adjustment.
- Complete client room checks, safety checks, and client supervision checks and all associated documentation throughout shift and as directed by nurses or supervisor.
- Interact with clients during activities such as: meals, transportation to appointments, client smoking times, etc.
- Assist with meal preparation and housekeeping duties such as: cleaning, laundry, trash removal, shopping, etc. as directed by supervisor.
- Communicate with your assigned medical staff the medical needs of clients and assist them and assist as needed in providing care.
- Immediately report any change in client behavior or physical condition to the charge nurse.
- Monitor, educate and assist assigned clients in performance of activities of daily living in accordance with goals and problem area identified on individualized treatment plan.
- Assists assigned clients with self-care and other living skills engaging with support and encouragement.
- If warranted document assigned client activities and client interaction in EHR.
- Provide shift reports via email/report to VBHCS staff at the end of each shift. Specifically, any therapeutic interactions had with clients on that shift.
- Prepare assigned rooms when clients transition, including removing remaining belongings, sweeping/mopping, changing linens, room name placard, etc.
- Based on staff rotation aids at the front desk as needed; directing incoming calls to appropriate staff and interacting with guests, visitors, family members and outside providers in a professional welcoming manner.
- Report facility maintenance concerns immediately to manager/supervisor.
- Carry out responsibilities pertaining to the operation of the facility, including all events, activities, utilizing safety management, emergency procedures and non-violent crisis intervention. Transport assigned clients to and from appointments, groups and other activities as requested by supervisor.
- Maintain order and inventory reporting in storage areas as needed
- Employ de-escalation techniques mediating potential crisis between clients when necessary.
- Follows in house crisis response plan in case of emergency psychiatric emergency (i.e. suicidal/homicidal ideation or threats) with the direction of supervisor.
- Utilize well planned and effective communication when contacting On-Call staff to report pertinent information after hours having gathered information beforehand.
- Attend meetings and trainings in-house, electronic, virtual, etc. as directed by supervisor.
- Follow agency protocol about contraband and items not allowed in resident possession.
- Conduct and document admission searches of clients and personal belongings as instructed by the supervisor.
- Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision, and report to supervisor in a concise, timely manner.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible and cohesive relationship with clients, co-workers, and the public while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Display flexibility in accepting additional responsibilities and assignment changes, including shift changes.
- Perform light clerical duties as assigned.
